Homelessness is a problem everywhere even in Beverly Hills. The difference is the way the homeless are treated in the 90210 area. Instead of lounging in rotting clothes the rich tend to make sure their bums look good.
In Los Angeles County there are 74,000 homeless people. It is the nation's capital of homelessness. A few of those are lucky enough to be living on the easy streets of Beverly Hills though, where the rich pull up to panhandlers with trays of cooked food, designer clothes and odd jobs.

Reports say about 30 people live on the street in the land of movie stars and mansions. It seems that many of those also have a big heart when it comes to those without a roof to call their own.

As Yahoo reports:

"They have a sympathetic thing for us and we're grateful for it," said a man with grizzled hair pulling a train of wheeled suitcases, an office chair and a stroller piled high with a motley bunch of items found in the trash. He would only identify himself as "Bond."

Issac Young is another who hopes to be lifted out of the reins of poverty. For the past six months he has been living rent free in a Benedict Canyon home after a benefactor decided to give him a hand up. He has another six months to go before he will be cut loose and he thinks he will be able to save up for an apartment by then. His place is furnished because of the big hearts of another Manhattan Beach couple who have befriended him. He still panhandles, but he has a goal to stay off of the street.

You'd think that every homeless person in Los Angeles County would be trekking it to Beverly Hills. The truth is the super rich will call the police if the bum on the corner is being a jerk. The homeless that call the park benches of Beverly Hills are a special breed.

As Yahoo reports:

"A lot of homeless don't want to be with snooty, rich people," he said. "You have to be respectful and not act like an idiot. If you're a derelict, they're going to call the cops on you. We're the upscale bums."
