Barack Obama has had a very difficult time as of late, shooting himself in the foot in word if not in deed. Yet being his own worst enemy right now is the least of it. His many supporters have their own loaded guns, and the ricochets are killing him.
It seems these days that as soon as Obama dodges the fire from the opposition with only minor wounds, the bullets coming from his own side are ricocheting at him with even more devastating effect.
Incredibly enough, even Bill Ayers and Jeremiah Wright have fallen off the radar in the midst of this withering political fire being redirected to Obama from his most devout supporters.
Having waded through the muck of his 'lipstick on a pig' comment, which seems to be dying down somewhat now (as even the most controversial news stories seem to these days - how many centuries distant does the FLDS raid seem?), Barack Obama is falling victim not to the McCain/Palin Express, but from the foot soldiers on his own side of the battlefield.
There are the comments by SC Dem Chair Carol Fowler, who opined that Sarah Palin's only qualification for office is that she hasn't had an abortion. Besides being outrageous on its face, that statement seems even more heinous given the fact that Gov. Palin decided to bring a baby with Down's Syndrome to term instead of aborting it, thereby solidifying her credentials with left-wing airheads like Fowler.
Recent comments by Matt Damon, in which he called Sarah Palin's story a "bad Disney movie," and Pamela Anderson, who said today that "Palin can suck it!" (perhaps forgetting her own experiences on this front) only contribute to the 'Celebutard' image of Obama's Hollywood supporters and detract from Obama's efforts to stabilize his sinking ship.
Even wife Michelle has been getting in on the action, implying Sarah Palin is an idiot at a recent Holmby Hills fundraiser at which she said, after ebullient praise of VP pick Joe Biden, that "My husband isn't afraid of picking smart people!" (applause)
Speaking of Joe Biden, he has not been helping his Main Man's cause much either, saying that Hillary would have been a better pick than he (no argument here) and asking a crippled state senator in a wheelchair to stand up. All this in addition to the planeload of baggage Biden already brought to the ticket.
But despite all the damage his closest political associates are inflicting upon him, perhaps none is more damaging than his media PR wing, the MSM.
It has been unrelenting its attacks against Palin. Even her relatively modest interview with Charlie Gibson on ABC is being interpreted as a hatchet job in which Gibson is trying to hoist Palin on her own petards.
Chris Matthews has become the walking talking joke of the American media, being no less than an NBC Lord Haw Haw for the Obama cause.
As media 'reporters' throw all pretenses of journalistic integrity and objectivity to the wind, Obama is reaping the whirlwind. New polls show majorities of Americans believing the media is in the tank for Obama and gunning mercilessly for Sarah Palin.
There is yet another factor in all this that runs like a common thread through all: it is the same rage-filled Left, be it the media or KOS or Democratic allies like Fowler, Damon and Anderson, harping that Sarah Palin is a danger to America, that her 'Fundie' beliefs will have women getting abortions by coat hangers as in the decades before Roe v. Wade, and that conservative Republicans are evil at best.
And oh yeah, Palin's son Track, who is now deploying to Iraq, had a real temper as a hockey player. Hard to believe, huh?
This is what it has come to. A 17-year-old hockey player and son of Sarah Palin being accused of Ice Rage.
Hello?
This lowering of the national political discourse, in which Democrats paint all conservative Republicans as warmongering racist Imperialists and fire-eyed religious zealots straight out of 'A Handmaid's Tale' is worn as thin as the political ice Obama finds cracking beneath his feet, and it only serves to illustrate to the public how radical and irrational they all really are. Their constant fearmongering, harping and telling us how to think and vote is condescending at best, and alienating of the electoral majorities at worst.
Or best, depending on your point of view.
For a reality check, ask yourself this: after eight years of Bush, is Planned Parenthood any less of a massive abortion industry than it was under Clinton? Has the Supreme Court struck down Roe v. Wade? Yet year after year, decade after decade we hear the same horror stories from the Democratic Left time and again how every election of a Republican is one step closer to an American Third Reich.
It is a wearying, irritating and ultimately boring broken record that only seems to get louder, more irritating and more desperately shrill as these presidential elections draw nigh. And they have been the stake in the heart of Democratic presidential candidates since at least Bush/Gore in 2000.
This is change?
Unfortunately, Obama's political problems do not end at our shores. When idiots like British 'comedian' Russell Brand campaigns for Obama on MTV then slanders a wide swath of Americans, or when the BBC loudly proclaims the outside world's wisdom (and implying American ignorance and stupidity) in polls showing Obama is the World's Candidate, that only causes Americans to become offended and defensive.
It does not help Obama's cause, and only drives more moderate and Independent American voters to McCain's camp by default.
If Democrats ever want to gain the White House again, they must totally change the tack and tone that has been forced upon them by the George Soros Left, political hack media operatives and even radical Socialist Europeans. It is both predictable and lame, and ultimately boring and self-defeating.
For example: can anyone here doubt that these same Obama players will all scream 'white racism' if Obama loses in November, despite the mountains of evidence to the contrary that are piled up for all to see? Like the fact that Obama would not be where he is today without miliions of civilized and prejudice-free white American voters?
It is already happening.
In closing, all of the above are free to continue in their detracting, condescending and derogatory ways. It's a free country. But every freedom has its price, and the cost of theirs will continue to be 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue if they don't wise up, and fast.
