Shawn Thomas Lucas, 30, has been arrested in Polk County, Florida for selling Oxycontin. That is not so unusual had it not been the fact that Lucas works for Polk County detention deputy.
Lucas was arrested after selling the pills to undercover detectives in the Save-A-Lot parking lot in Auburndale.
Lucas was off duty when he sold the detective six whole pills and nine half pills with a street value of $200.
Lucas did not protest the arrest and consented to a search of his Ford pickup truck. Lucas' personal weapon, a loaded .45-caliber handgun in it.
The Oxycontin had been Lucas' deceased father's. More pills were found at his residence. Lucas resigned from the Sheriff's Office after his arrest.
He is being held without bond.
