Sep 4, 2008 - Opinion: I Can’t Stand John McCain - 2 comments
Yesterday, Anderson Cooper was a busy, busy boy, dodging flying debris in the Lower Ninth Ward and interviewing Barack Obama on a variety of issues, including the experience comparison between himself and presumptive Republican VP nominee Sarah Palin.
A short of the video is here on Brietbart.tv and the full interview (9 minutes), entitled "Obama takes on critics" is located here at CNN.

The long and the short of it is as follows: Obama says that he has more experience than Governor Palin and these are the reasons why:
My understanding is that Gov. Palin’s town, Wassilla, has I think 50 employees. We've got 2500 in this campaign. I think their budget is maybe 12 million dollars a year – we have a budget of about three times that just for the month.

So, Obama believes that it is relevant to compare what he is doing in his current job as a nominee for one of the two major political parties for the position of President of the United States to Governor Palin's previously held job of Mayor of a small town, totally ignoring the fact that she is now a Governor of the State of Alaska. OK, so let's compare the two by using thier actual current jobs, Obama managing his campaign running for President, Palin as Governor of Alaska:

Obama for Pres Campaign:
January 16, 2007 to date
(Announced Exploratory Committee)

Palin as Governor of Alaska:
December 4, 2006 to date
(Sworn in as Governor)

Well, looks like she beats him here on that score by about 43 days (and I thought I was being rather generous by giving him the extra month between "exploratory" and his "I'm in" announcement and excluding the extra month between election night and sworn in date for her). OK, well maybe we could look at Mr. Obama's next claim about how he "manages" more employees than she.

Obama for Pres Campaign:
Employees: 2,500

Palin as Governor of Alaska:
Employees: 24,000**

Whoa, looks like she really beats the pants off him on that one. Ah well, let's move on to who is managing more money.

Obama for Pres Campaign:
Monthly cash coming in: $51M (July 2008)

Palin as Governor of Alaska:
Monthly cash coming in: over $1B*

For the record, I don't believe that I need to say anything about the final side by side comparison as it appears to be abundantly clear that the "Hockey Mom" has completely wiped the floor with the "Superman" presumptive President.

**From Politico.

The following is an excerpt from Barack Obama's keynote address to the DNC in July of 2004. I would ask that you listen to his words as they described John Kerry and ponder whether Obama's resume remotely resembles the accomplishments that he heaps praise on John Kerry for having done:
Our party has chosen a man to lead us who embodies the best this country has to offer. And that man is John Kerry.

John Kerry understands the ideals of community, faith and service because they've defined his life. From his heroic service to Vietnam to his years as prosecutor and lieutenant governor, through two decades in the United States Senate, he has devoted himself to this country. Again and again, we've seen him make tough choices when easier ones were available. His values and his record affirm what is best in us.

An Update: Joe Lieberman said in a speech tonight to the Republican National Committee, the following:
Sen. Barack Obama is a gifted and eloquent young man who can do great things for our country in the years ahead. But my friends, eloquence is no substitute for a record — not in these tough times for America.
