On Sunday, Angelly Arnache was brought into the world and being labeled the largest baby born at the Colombian clinic where she was delivered. Weighing in at over 13 lbs, the baby and mom are both said to be doing well.
Giving birth is somewhat of a miracle in itself but in Barranquilla, Columbia that miracle nearly doubled the average birthweight tipping the scales at 13-pounds and 2-ounces, or over 6 kilograms, and 22 and a half inches in length (57-centimeters).

So far, there was no medically explained reason why Consuelo Arnache, the 25-year-old first time mother delivered such a large baby. Gestational diabetes had been ruled out, according to Mercedes Pacheco, a paediatrician at the clinic where the baby was delivered by cesarean section.
3News explained:
"She weighted 6000 grams and measured 57 centimetres (22 and a half inches). She is the largest baby we have ever had in the clinic's history. Those sizes are extremely large for a born baby of 40 weeks because the normal sizes are between 3,500 to 4000 grams (seven and a half to eight and a half pounds)," Pacheco said.
The baby girl whose name is Angelly was being treated for some problems with blood sugar levels and breathing issues but is said to be in good health.
Babies born of this size are not unknown, but it usually makes news when it happens as was the case in the 2005
birth of Delaney Jessica Buzzell, who weighed in at 13-pounds and 12-ounces at a Wisconsin hospital. In 2006, 14-pound and 13-ounce
Stephon Hendrix Louis-Jean broke a nearly 20-year record at a Connecticut hospital.
Carrying home this bundle of joy will probably have its own unforseen issues.
