Former hockey mom, Sarah Palin, is the new "maverick" VP pick for the McCain campaign, and her experience has come into question. The real question; Is Sarah Palin truly inexperienced?
In 2006 Salary.com calculated that the average housewife is worth $134,000 a year. On the list of the many roles of a housewife is the title CEO and facilities manager. However, Salary.com does not seem to mention that not only is a housewife functional in the civilian field, but in the political field as well.
A housewife is a logistician, she decides who gets deployed to where and for why based on their qualifications. She organizes the transport arrangements and the tools needed for each specific job.
A housewife is a legislator, she decides which laws/rules are made for her household.
A housewife is an economist, she decides how to delegate the spending of finances for the money coming into the household.
A housewife is a diplomat, she decides how the conflicts in the household are resolved.
A housewife is a negotiator, she decides how to conduct business between the family and other families and establishments.
The common factor in all of the statements above is "she decides." A housewife is a decision maker, she is an executive.
Before Sarah Palin was the Vice Presidential candidate she was a housewife. She started in politics when she became a member of her local PTA. From there she was voted into City Council, and then became the mayor of her city. She her way from civilian to politician. All of her training began when she was but a "hockey mom."
As a woman who is a housewife, I have a different appreciation for Sarah Palin's experience. She worked her way from a good mother to an involved citizen to a politician. She did it right.
