article imageWithin This Cloud, I Thee Wed: A Different Wedding

By M Dee Dubroff     Aug 29, 2008 in Lifestyle
Read all about this London couple that spent their wedding day 1,000 feet above the surface of the Earth, strapped to the top of biplanes as they recited their wedding vows.
Kate Hodgson, 23 and Darren McWalters, 24 are not your average couple. To prove this beyond the shadow of any doubt, the couple exchanged wedding vows in a most unusual fashion. The bride took to the skies earlier this month in a full bridal gown on the top of a plane operated by a group of stunt pilots, known as Team Guinot. The groom flew along side of her in an identical plane, and Reverend George Bringham officiated the ceremony in a plane flying ahead of the couple via an airborne communications system.
According to news sources, the happy event, which occurred in Cirencester, about 90 miles west of London, was televised and thousands of viewers witnessed through veils of white smoke the bride’s dress fluttering madly in the foul weather. The odd threesome struggled to make themselves heard though special microphones over the din of the aircraft. The ceremony was trumped by unabated gusts wind and rain, but the couple had a great time.
The bride said:
As I got older I became more adventurous, and I bring the adventurous side out of Darren. He used to be scared of heights. We
are a bit crazy together and so we wanted something that suited.
I think they succeeded.
How about you?
