article imageWill Super Bowl Rematch Impact Obama?

By Johnny Simpson     Aug 28, 2008 in Politics
With all the politics flying around this week, I just now realized that ABC is broadcasting it's last preseason game, a rematch between last year's Super Bowl contenders, the New England Patriots and the New York Giants. So what are you watching?
Barack Obama has a lot of troubles before he even steps onstage tonight.
McCain is about to name his VP candidate, causing a news flurry of speculation. The intended Lincoln Memorial stage appears more like Mount Olympus and has been widely mocked.
And now, he has to play smashmouth football.
Though only a preseason game, the matchup between the defending Super Bowl Champion New York Giants and the 18-1 New England Patriots is sure to get a lot of attention.
But how much? It is only a preseason game and means nothing in the standings, but does it really? Is this not a game of nationally broadcast pride for the Patriots? Many viewers may think so.
A lot depends on Manning and Brady (and possibly Moss) suiting up and for how long.
Anyway, you have your pick of stadiums tonight. Is this a great country or what?
8:10 PM UPDATE: Obama caught a break. It's halftime. On With The Show!
13-0 Giants. Not an insurmountable deficit for Team Elvis.
Stay Tuned.
