The Tamil Nadu Cricket Association plans to develop the world's largest cricket stadium on the outskirts of Chennai, one of the biggest metros in India.
In India, cricket is religion. People view cricket as much more than just a recreational sport; they view it as a reverent element in their lives. This fact was established when the Indian Premier League (IPL) took place. The IPL was the highest revenue-generating cricket event ever and it also had a budget which ran into millions of dollars.

Investors saw the potential of cricket and went ahead with investing in the IPL and they were not disappointed. Nor were the fans of cricket- IPL was the largest and best sporting event they had ever experienced.

Now the investors are seeking a higher return and also a better business opening- the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) is ready to develop the largest cricket stadium the world has ever seen.

The stadium is to have a seating capacity of 90,000. This was the seating capacity of the Bird's Nest Olympics stadium in Beijing.

The stadium is all set to have state-of-the-art equipment such as a retractable roof which will close when it rains. It will also have facilities like swimming pools, spas, etc. in the manner of all international stadiums.

It is a win-win situation because the fans of cricket will have the greatest experience watching matches in the stadium and the investors are bound to get vast returns on investments.

In a country like India where people are extremely diligent, recreational activity which relieves stress will earn a very warm welcome; so we can be assured that the world's largest cricket stadium will be a grand success after it is erected on 50 acres of land in Old Mahabalipuram Road, Chennai; this will be right on time for the World Cup 2011.
