Hillary Clinton wants to put an end to all the rumors about the infighting within the Democrats and urged her supporters to unite behind Barack Obama.
Clinton lost to Obama in the Democratic nominations in a very close contest. Her supporters thought she wasn’t treated fairly during the nominations. But later some of them wanted Clinton as the VP choice for Obama, but the choice went to Joe Biden.
There have been persistent rumors from the Republican side that there is too much fighting between the Clinton supporters and Barack’s people. Clinton wanted to put an end to that rumor and told a group of supporters in New York:
We are after all Democrats, so it may take awhile…We're not the fall-in-line party. We are diverse. But make no mistake, we are unified.
She urged her supporters to join the fight against the Republicans in the upcoming presidential elections.
Clinton will give a prime-time speech at the convention Tuesday night. Her husband and former President Bill Clinton will speak on Wednesday. Hillary Clinton will meet with her delegates on Wednesday and will urge them to support Obama instead.
In her speech she said the stakes are very high in the November 4 election and that the country could not afford a win by the Sen. John McCain who she said will follow the same footsteps of George W. Bush.
She added:
I just want to make it absolutely clear -- we cannot afford four more years of President Bush's failed policies…I am looking forward to being at the White House when President Obama signs quality, affordable health care for every American.
Clinton also mocked the McCain campaign advertisement using her criticisms of Obama during the nomination fight.
She closed her speech with the following statement:
I am Hillary Clinton and I do not approve that message…We are united and we are together and we are determined…We're going to make sure that we win on November 4. So let's have a great convention.
