Just when you thought things couldn’t get any sillier, an art lover has gone that extra expensive mile by having the Mona Lisa mowed into her lawn. Do not pass go or collect $200 as you read on along your way to the kingdom of sheer absurdity.
Gardener, Tania Ledger has mowed the Mona Lisa into her lawn by employing Chris Naylor, a 3D art expert who was responsible for reconstructing the famous painting for the hit film, The Da Vinci Code.
According to news sources, it took him two days (and an undisclosed amount of cash) to replicate Da Vinci’s masterpiece in the grass surrounding Ledger’s home, utilizing a select number of garden tools and a small lawnmower.
The design is certain to grow out within weeks, but for Mrs. Ledger, 48, this new and different way to flush hard-earned cash down the toilet is all just too exciting. She said of her lawn’s new look:
"
It's like a hair cut - if you don't like it you can grow it out and you can try out as many new looks as you like. Having experimented with topiary already, my lawn seemed like the perfect blank canvas to host my next creation.”
According to Clare Foggett of Garden News:
“Garden art… is becoming increasingly popular among domestic gardeners.”
Well, Mona Lisa, what can anyone say?
Sleep tight and may dandelions and crabgrass not cover thy lovely visage too soon!
