Strings of Unity in India to Celebrate Independence Day

For the exclusive event for the celebration of its 61st Independence Day, Indian telecom company Airtel hosted a one-of-its-kind event of beautiful Indian and world music entitled Unity Concert.
Unity Concert boasted exclusive performances by various artists of stringed instruments. This collaborative ensemble features eminent musicians of India and abroad. With its excellent concept and music composed by Purbayan Chatterjee, sitarist, and arranged by Atul Raninga, based in Mumbai, this show involved an amalgamation of Western and classical performances by renowned musicians of the country.
Artists came from the Indian cities of Bengaluru, Chennai, Kolkata and Mumbai; performers from the host city included sitarist Purbayan Chatterjee, The Violin Brothers (Deb Shankar and Jyoti Shankar), percussionist Shubhankar Banerjee and other artist form Indian Strings and Calcutta School of Music. Participants from abroad included Spanish guitarist Eduardo Niebla, based in UK and Jazz player Kunie Ayo, based in South Africa.
Showcasing a marvelous blend of Indian and World music, the concert successfully roused the passion of the audience besides gently invoking a strong spirit of patriotism and universal brotherhood. The evening ended with patriotic songs by chief guest Jagjit Singh and rendition of the national anthem.
