America's Secretary of State Rice had a four hour meeting with Georgia’s President Saakashvili. Russian Forces were spotted about 45 kilometers from Tbilisi. Rice demands the immediate withdrawal of Russian forces from Georgia.
The Rice visit to Georgia and the US Military delivering urgently needed humanitarian supplies in the beleaguered country is a stark contrast to the continuing destruction of Georgian assets within their sovereign territory.
"Russian troops continue to occupy the town of Gori outside Tbilisi .....and several cities in the west of the country ....including Poti where Georgian naval vessels have been destroyed."
The tension between the USA and Russia has been further exacerbated by Poland’s recent signing of an agreement to base US Interceptor Missiles on it’s territory.
Russia does not like having Western influence so close to it’s borders. The specter of Russian troops moving on Tbilisi rather than heading home, appears to be a strong signal to the world that Russia is not about to back down.
