It turns out everyone's suspicions were right. The FBI has finally revealed the true identity of the man who claimed to be the grandson in the famous Rockefeller clan.
Christian Gerhartsreiter. That is the true name of the man who claimed to be Clark Rockefeller and led police on a child abduction kidnapping hunt. The Federal Bureau of Investigation
revealed these details today in a press conference, noting that they compared his fingerprints from a wine glass he touched in July to fingerprints on immigration papers taken in the 1980s. They then compared those two sets of prints to the ones taken at the time of his arrest for a custody kidnapping of his daughter on August 2nd in Baltimore. He was found in an apartment with his daughter, Reigh, unharmed.
Gerhartsreiter has been living across the country since the 80s under the names Chris Crowe, Chris Chichester, Charles Smith and Chip Smith. He resided in such places as California, Wisconsin, and Massachusetts. Interviews with people who knew him in Calfornia helped point the authorities to his true identification.
California authorities have more questions for Gerhartsreiter. They believe he may be linked to the disappearance of Jonathan and Linda Sohus who are believed to have been murdered in 1985. Bones have been dug up on the property of Jonathan's mother in San Marino. Gerhartsreiter rented a room from her during the time of his disappearance.
