Three women who worked for the New York-based International Rescue Committee were attacked in Logar province, south of Kabul.
Five gunmen
ambushed a U.S. aid organization's vehicle Wednesday. Three aid workers, a Canadian, a British-Canadian and an Trinidadian-American were killed.
The three women worked for the New York-based International Rescue Committee (IRC) were attacked in Logar province, south of Kabul. The Afghan driver was also killed.
The
International Rescue Committee is in the process of alerting family members.
Dr. Mir Mabub Shah, at Logar's Pul-e-Alam hospital, said all four bodies had multiple bullet wounds.
The five gunmen had assault rifles and stepped out of a small village area and fired at the IRC vehicles on the main road according to an Afghan who was also wounded in the attack.
The, clearly marked, white SUV, IRC vehicle was riddled with hundreds of bullets. The aid workers were travelling from the eastern city of Gardez to Kabul when they were attacked.
