In a ridiculous attempt to provide consumers with that which they wouldn’t want if they were in their right mind, a designer has created a set of knitting patterns for woolly models of the world's most evil dictators.
Whatever was Rachael Matthew’s thinking when she came up with the idea for her new knitting book? According to news sources, she must have had controversy (aka sales) in mind when she included designs for a dozen dictators, with a photo of Hitler doing the Nazi salute on the cover. She affectionately calls the Hitler doll, Knitler, after that adorable murderous bastard we all know and love.
Matthews is the brains behind Cast Off, a London knitting circle that has become very famous over the last few years. They are knitters who have had their share of controversy as they were once ejected from The Savoy Hotel for their “knitting exploits.” Matthew’s website features the sale of knitting kits to make items such as shoelaces, a cigarette lipstick a hand grenade and for those of us who really know not what we do, a woolen penis! This woman is obviously savvy at marketing, but most would agree that she is also right off her woolen rocker!
Her book features the designs of other leaders who should remain buried although their terrible exploits will not let the world forget them. Some of these notables include: Saddam Hussein, Idi Amin and Cambodian sweetie, Poi Pot.
Happy knitting, if you feel so inclined.
