Edmundston,. New Brunswick, people living in this just west of this northern New Brunswick community have been forced to leave their homes Sunday as flood waters continued to rise in the area.
It has been raining steadily for the past several days throughout northern New Brunswick, in Campbellton, a number of the downtown businesses have been flooded several times since last Tuesday.

In the communities just west of of Edmundston, N.B., about a 2 1/2 hour drive from Campbellton, many people were leaving their homes today as flood waters continued to rise in the area.

A bridge was washed out by the heavy rains on Friday and Saturday as well as four sections of a road. Emergency officials estimated that about 200 people were stranded.

Police say the evacuation is a precautionary measure.

"The water was coming down like a spout and it was intermittent," said RCMP Sgt. Gary Cameron.

"It would come down and then it would be almost dry, and then it would come down again and the raindrops were coming down so hard on the vehicle and I had to pull over a couple of times because of the amount of water on the road."
