They joked that their tour would be called "The Womb To Tomb" out of respect for the diversity in age of their fans. Will that title go up in smoke?
Hoping to revitalize their fame from the 70's, Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong have
reunited to tour the country again with a new comedy act. The new tour will be called "Cheech and Chong: Hey, What's That Smell?" starting in November in San Jose.
The reunion is somewhat of a surprise to their fan base. In 2005, Chong said that Cheech had
rejected the idea of touring again.
“He considers himself an actor,” Chong said, “someone above the comedy. He wouldn’t do the characters and he won’t grow his mustache back.”
Both he and Marin had acknowledged they have tried to reunite in the past but there were too many differences. This time, however, they've worked them out.
"We've gotten to the age where we don't feel like fighting anymore because the end is a lot closer than the beginning," Marin said.
Cheech and Chong's past works have won accolades. Their 9 comedy albums bore 4 Grammy nominations and 1 win. They've also appeared in 8 movies together. Marin, 62, has found steady work in television and the movies, appearing in shows such as "Nash Bridges", "Judging Amy", "The George Lopez Show" and "Lost". Chong has made appearance on television in shows like "That 70's Show" (big surprise).
