Facebook has finally shut down Scrabulous after it received a DMCA takedown notice from Hasbro, which owns Scrabble's rights in the U.S.
Facebook has yielded to Hasbro's DMCA takedown notice and has removed the Scrabulous game based on the popular Scrabble board game.
When you visit the Scrabulous game in the U.S. and in Canada, you will see the following message:
Scrabulous is disabled for U.S. and Canadian users until further notice. If you would like to stay informed about developments in this matter, please click here.
To keep up with the updates whether the Scrabulous game will be reinstated or not, you can enter your e-mail address and the founders will send you a message when they are available.

Scrabulous is a popular game on Facebook, and many users will be extremely disappointed. Even though Hasbro has their own Scrabble game in Facebook, I doubt they can generate the same experience. Hasbro could have worked it out with the creators and still could have made profit from Scrabulous.
Hasbro started the lawsuit after they started the Scrabble game in Facebook.
The New York Times blog suggests the disappointed users in the U.S. and Canada should try Scrabulous game at their site Scrabulous.com here, which works fine.
