India's information technology hub Bangalore was rocked by seven serial blasts in a time span of one hour. Initial reports suggest that three people are dead and dozens injured.
Bangalore, home to many leading off shoring companies in India is known as the ' Silicon valley of India'. The blasts began at around 1:30 pm local time (8:30 am GMT) at a busy bus terminal in South Bangalore and six other explosions followed in one hour in other parts of Bangalore. Indian Police officials suspect Islamic terrorist organisations like Lashkar-e-Toiba and Students Islamic movement of India behind the blasts.
Bangalore, home to approximately seven million people is where more than 2000 information technology companies and call centres are located. They include Indian companies like Infosys, Wipro and MNCs like Microsoft, IBM,Google,Intel etc. It is popularly known as the back office of the World due to the large number of call centres located here.
Several Indian cities were attacked by Islamic militants in the recent months claiming hundreds of lives.
