New Zealand Judge Rob Murfitt ruled in favor of the girl who opposed being named by her parents “Talula Does The Hula From Hawaii”. The judge ordered her name to be changed immediately.
The 9-year-old girl complained to the courts about her unusual name, "Talula Does The Hula From Hawaii“. The judge in the city of New Plymouth on the North Island agreed and made her ward of the court so that she could change her name effective immediately.

Judge Rob Murfitt said the name will embarrass the kid and will expose her to teasing in school. He also advised other parents not to resort to bizarre naming.

The New Zealand officials have earlier blocked names like Sex Fruit, Keenan Got Lucy and Yeah Detroit but the same officials have also allowed unusual names like the following: Violence; Number 16 Bus Shelter; Midnight Chardonnay; Benson and Hedges (twins).

What other names were blocked? Yeah Detroit; Stallion; Twisty Poi; Keenan Got Lucy; Sex Fruit; Fat Boy; Cinderella Beauty Blossom; Fish and Chips (twins).

New Zealand has special laws that prevent parents from naming their children with monikers longer than 100 characters.

The girl refused to tell her friends her real name and went simply by the letter “K”. She didn’t directly go to court but the name issue surface during a custody hearing for the young girl.

Judge Murfitt wrote in his ruling: "The court is profoundly concerned about the very poor judgment which this child's parents have shown in choosing this name…It makes a fool of the child and sets her up with a social disability and handicap, unnecessarily."
