In a previous report, rumors swirled that producers were planning a Top Gun movie sequel with Tom Cruise. Now, it appears Cruise may not be back in action. Paramount Studios says it has no plans to make a sequel.
DigitalJournal.com citizen journalist Saikat Basu wrote an article about the Top Gun sequel, reporting that Tom Cruise might act in the movie.

Now, it appears Paramount Studios, which released the original “Top Gun” movie in 1986, said there was “no way” Cruise will be in the sequel according to Access Hollywood, a TV Entertainment show.

Access Hollywood contacted one of the reps at Paramount Studios, who also told them the reports of the sequel are false.

In the sequel, the previous report indicated that Cruise’s character will return to the Top Gun school as a flight instructor.

It is sad news for Tom Cruise fans, but he will be appearing in two movies shortly: “Tropic Thunder,” a comedy and “Valkyrie,” a World War II movie.
