article imageMother kills daughter for refusing to do homework

By Chris V. Thangham     Jul 22, 2008 in Crime
After her 9-year-old daughter refused to complete her reading assignment, a mother lost her temper and beat her child to death.
The daughter was given a reading assignment by her school during the holidays, but she refused to read the book, according to her mother, Erna Rivera, 26.
Rivera lost her temper and kicked the child, punched her and threw her against furniture in the house, according to Mauricio Lara of the Chilean police homicide division.
Lara told Reuters: "The girl started to develop trauma, felt ill, wanted to vomit and fainted. She herself drove her daughter to a nearby medical center, and there (the girl) suffered cardio respiratory arrest. They tried to revive her, but she died."
Lara added that Rivera was accused of family violence by her partner last year.
Unfortunately, the girl's birthday is today. Instead of celebrating her birthday today, now the mother has to arrange her funeral plans.
