British detectives arrested Batman star Christian Bale for allegedly assaulting his mother and sister. He remains in custody in London.
London Metropolitan Police spokesman told the press that they arrested Christian Bale, 34, for allegedly assaulting his family members. Bale is believed to have lashed out at his mother and sister in his suite at London's Dorchester Hotel on Sunday.
The spokesman told BBC:
"A 34-year-old man attended a police station in central London by appointment and was arrested in connection with an allegation of assault - he currently remains in custody."
Before his arrest, Bale attended the European premiere of The Dark Knight last night in London's Leicester Square. He is supposed to meet journalists at the Dorchester today to promote the film. This arrest may postpone that meeting.
According to the spokesman, the assault allegation was filed at a police station in Hampshire and the arrest was made soon after.
Christian Bale's current movie "The Dark Knight" has reaped record profits and rave reviews from both critics and audiences.
The producers will be hoping this news doesn't cause any major distraction to their Batman movie.
Christian Bale, unlike other actors has stayed out of trouble so far, and hopefully this will be a minor family squabble.
