article imageA House Is A Church For Chicago's George Michael

By KJ Mullins     Jul 21, 2008 in World
George Michael of Chicago is saving a bundle on his home taxes. He turned his house into a church. The $1.5 million home is now Armenian Church of Lake Bluff.
Michael's expressed motive was to help his disabled wife and daughter to be able to attend church without having to travel. The man received a pastor's degree last year from a religious site online. He claims to have a small congregation, close friends and family.
Michael is also an estate agent knowing the loopholes of property taxes and how to minimize his own. By putting up a cross in his front yard and declaring the home a church he is saving mucho dinero.
The property has "private property" and "no trespassing" signs plastered about. It seems this church is rather private.
The city officials are appealing the state's granting of church status.
