Democratic Presidential Nominee Barack Obama rode to the defense of his wife Michelle like a modern day “Knight in Shining Armour.”
Obama told Glamour Magazine that attacks on his wife are “infuriating.” The Presidential candidate blames the conservative press “for going after his wife as if she were the candidate. If they have a difference with me on policy, then they should come after me, not her” Obama told the magazine. Although Michelle has higher favourable than Cindy McCain, wife of Republican Nominee John McCain, she also has higher unfavourable ratings.
Michelle Obama gained negative attention with a remark about “being proud of her country for the first time…” After the publicity she received from her unpopular statement, she later went on to say; “I’ve always been proud of my country and I am particularly proud to see so many people involved in the political process.”
Barack says his wife is “the most quintessentially American woman he knows,” completely opposite from the slant given by the press.
The Internet has played a dual role for the Obama Campaign. It has allowed them to raise millions of dollars and organize supporters, and Obama claims it has a “Hot Spot” for fuelling rumours and far-fetched stories. “It’s very hard to catch up” he says.
