article imageDozens of ravers blinded at a Moscow laser show

Over 30 young revellers who attended an open air music festival in a town near Moscow had their retinas damaged by laser beams.
If you are a regular party goer, make sure you wear sunglasses next time. Up to thirty people who attended the aquamarine festival in the town of Vladimir, some 170 kilometres (106 miles) east of Moscow had their retinas burned after the party. Doctors fear the damage could be permanent.
The music festival was supposed to be an open air festival, but when it rained heavily, concert organizers covered the dance floor by a canopy. The laser beams directly pointed into the ravers eyes instead of into the sky. Although, the festival was on July 5, ravers started complaining about their eyesight after a couple of days.
One doctor who treated them said
All of them have burnt retinas, you can see scars on them. The loss of eyesight in some cases is up to 80 percent and it's unlikely it can ever be restored.
Local authorities are blaming the organizers for the incident.
The festival was organized illegally without proper permits. It was partly the rain, but also partly the size of the laser. Somebody set up an extremely powerful laser for such a small space.
