Barack Obama briefly forgot to ask his supporters to help in paying off Clinton's debts at a New York fundraiser. After concluding the event he had to come back to the stage to ask his donors to help Clinton.
After a busy day in the senate both Clinton and Obama had come together to New York from Washington. Obama was supposed to meet his donors at a major fundraiser in New York. Clinton was to hold another meeting with her supporters to raise funds for Obama.
Obama gave a 30- minute speech where he spoke on campaign issues from the universal health care bill, gas house emission to the war in Iraq. He praised Clinton as extraordinary, tough and smart. Everything went on smoothly until he said Goodnight to the audience and left the stage.
After a minute or so, he came back to the stage amidst loud music and told the audience.
Hold on a second guys, I was getting all carried away. I’ve got one more thing that is important to do. Senator Clinton still has some debt. And I could have had some debt if I hadn’t won so I know the drill. That is very important to us, and obviously Senator Clinton would be grateful as well.
Clinton has over $10 million in debts after her failed campaign for the Democratic nomination. Obama had promised to help her after she endorsed him.
