The salmonella outbreak that has hit North America has topped 1,000. It is now thought that hot peppers along with tomatoes are the culprits.
Federal health officials are saying the raw jalapeƱo peppers have been behind of the illness but they do not explain all of those who are sick. Also being considered are fresh cilantro and Serrano peppers.

The total sick has reached 1,017 with one confirmed death. A man in his 70s has been confirmed by health workers of dying from salmonella.
