HARARE (July 5th) - The South African president Thabo Mbeki arrived on Saturday to Zimbabwe and will meet his Zimbabwean counterpart Robert Mugabe, reported the ziambabwean agency Ziana.
The president Mbeki was appointed by the Community of development of southern Africa to try to reconcile the president Mugabe with the opposition.

The African Union (AU) asked him this week to pursue its efforts of mediation in Zimbabwe. But the Zimbabwean government supports that he did not want negotiations with the opposition before this last one recognizes the results of the second ballot of the presidential election.

Morgan Tsvangirai, candidate presidential elections of the opposition, the demand that the results of the first ballot of March 29th is the base of the negotiations.

Mr Tsvangirai gained 47,9 % of votes in the first ballot, against 43,2 % of votes received by the president Mugabe.

The 11th summit of the AU, which has been held in Egypt, exhorted the government and the opposition of Zimbabwe to open a dialogue to bring out the country of the crisis.
