It would seem that heavy metal band, AC/DC’s Highway to Hell is fast becoming one of Australia’s most respected funeral tunes. Is there any escape? Read on and run if you can!

While the way we live is always up for criticism, grabs and any number of unexpected twists and turns, the way we die is now becoming punk and over the top! Ananova News reports that the song, Highway to Hell, which includes the line: Going down, party time. My friends are gonna be there too , is just outside the top tenth song requested with Led Zeppelin’s, “Stairway to Heaven” slightly in the lead.
According to The Daily Telegraph, Ding, Ding the Witch is Dead from the Wizard of Oz and Another One Bites The Dust are also very popular. Leading the choices on the funeral charts is My Way by Frank Sinatra followed by Louis Armstrong’s version of Wonderful World .
According to the funeral managers at Centennial Park, the largest cemetery and crematorium in Adelaide, the more traditional Abide With Me ”and Amazing Grace still rank among the top ten most requested funeral songs. Chief executive Brian Elliot said: Some of the more unusual songs we hear actually work very well within the service because they represent the person’s character.
Some other unconventional choices include: Hit The Road, Jack and Always Look on the Bright Side of Life by Monty Python.
As for me, I don’t care what song they play when it’s my turn to return to the other side of the sod.
I only know I would rather not be there!

I like both highway to hell equally as much as i like amazing grace but I think i'd rather have hell's bells as the song playing as i'm blown out the window though.. (I plan on getting creamated)

Hi Pat,
You made me laugh!
Thanks for the comment and how the...are you?
-
Hey back at yah i'm doin good. lol
It is the perfect song to be blown out the window by as far as i'm concerned perferably at decibls high enough to wake the dead if at all possible, rofl
I just told my sisters to toss me one the way home, saves one of em tryin to figure out where to put one of those awful urns the creamtory wants you to buy...geez what a waste of money. I feel this way after doing research for a post (called the cost of death) it's all just one huge money pit that just goes to dust one way of another.

Hi MD, good to see you back.
I think I'll like to have have them play "I'll be seeing you" as they lower me into the ground. It's a real tear jerker.

Not having heard the words to either in a while, I compared Highway to Hell to Amazing Grace.
First, AC/DC’s Highway to Hell:
Living easy, Living free, Season ticket on a one way ride.
Asking nothing, Leave me be, Taking everything in my stride.
Don't need reason, Don't need rhyme, Ain't nothin' I would rather do.
Going down, Party time, My friends are gonna be there too, eh
Chorus:
I'm on a highway to hell, On the highway to hell, Highway to hell
I'm on the highway to hell
No stop signs, Speed limit, Nobody's gonna slow me down
Like a wheel, Gonna spin it, Nobody's gonna mess me 'round
Hey Satan, Payin' my dues, Playin' in a rockin' band
Hey momma, Look at me, I'm on my way to the Promised Land, woh
(Chorus Repeats)
Mmm, don't stop me, No, oh, ouw, And I'm goin' down, all the waa-ay-aay, wohh
M-on the highway to hell.

Next, Amazing Grace:
Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me, I once was lost but now am found, was blind, but now, I see.
T'was Grace that taught...my heart to fear, and Grace, my fears relieved.
How precious did that Grace appear the hour I first believed.
Through many dangers, toils and snares we have already come.
T'was Grace that brought us safe thus far and Grace will lead us home.
When we've been here ten thousand years bright shining as the sun.
We've no less days to sing God's praise then when we've first begun.
Here’s my comment:
Hell – A REAL PLACE (according to AC/DC they won’t start to really live until then..).
Grace – Unmerited favor (from GOD), mercy and help for living now.

Hi66 divine,
It's good to be back! How have you been?
I'll Be Seeing You is a real tear jerker. Much more appropriate than Hit the Road, Jack, don't you think?
Thanks for your thoughts,
