This year the TTC hit the Pride Parade in style with a pimped out pink bus looking like the bus that carried a group of drag girls around in the movie The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert.
That's right it's time for Pride Week again in Toronto. The Pride Parade is always a time for fun and showmanship.
The TTC in the past has been involved by transporting the celebs that are in town for the week long event but they had never before made a splashy show during the parade.
Al Pritchard headed the TTC shop workers in applying the coats of "Strawberry Crush" to the exterior of the bus. He told
The Star that he and his crew now know a lot more about pink paint than they did a week ago. The chief designer for the project was volunteer Vincent Pincente. Vincent is more well known to local drag show fans as Donnarama. The group had one problem with the design though. A sandal that was to top the bus was deemed a hazard with the overhead streetcar wires. On Friday the plan was to mount the shoe to a platform on the back of the bus.
TTC driver Kathy Furtado steered the bus used as a float this year.
Susan Bigioni was the DJ on board spinning her regular flair of TTC stop announcements with songs from the Priscilla soundtrack.
