Sen. Barack Obama may be running for the biggest job in the U.S. but he still needs an identity card (ID) at the Washington D.C. gym.
Barack Obama and his entourage went to a local gym that was opened a month ago in the Columbia Heights district in D.C. When he tried to enter, the Washington Sports Club employee Takehia Wheeler asked him for an ID.
Takehia told TheHill.com:
“He came in and walked past me…I was like, ‘Sir, you need to come back.’ ”
Takehia said Obama looked familiar to her but she didn’t recognize him. Then she asked him his last name and first name. She realized it immediately after that she was talking to the Senator Barack Obama.
She apologized to him by saying, “Sorry, Mr. Future President!”
Also, the trainer of the club Drew McNeil didn’t recognize Obama, who was training right next to him.
Obama and his crew stayed at the gym for 20 minutes.
Obama has a membership to the citywide gym network and has a local gym near his home at the Gallery Place/Chinatown in D.C.
