Presumed Democratic nominee Senator Barack Obama of Illinois has now weighed in on the Supreme Court’s recent decision to outlaw the death penalty for child rapists.
Presumed GOP nominee Senator John McCain of Arizona and presumed Democratic nominee Senator Barack Obama of Illinois may have just one thing in common as of late. Recently, the Supreme Court had ruled that it was illegal to give child rapists the death penalty. So far both McCain and Obama have criticized this recent ruling.

According to Obama, states have the right to hand out the death penalty for child rapists. While Obama does have criticisms to how the death penalty is implemented, he has supported the use for a very long time. In a news conference, Obama has given his two cents on the issue.

I have said repeatedly that I think that the death penalty should be applied in the very narrow circumstances for the most egregious of crimes,” Obama said. He said that the rape of a child is justification for the death penalty. Obama said that it does not violate the Constitution.

McCain joined Obama in the criticism. He said that it hurts the efforts of law enforcement to punish these felons. Overall, both Obama and McCain agree that such felons deserve to be handed the death penalty. McCain had a lot to say about the Supreme Court's ruling on the matter.

Even in Obama’s book, “The Audacity of Hope,” the presumed Democratic nominee, had written that felons that commit such crimes need to be put to death.

Overall, Obama disagrees with the Supreme Court’s ruling on the death penalty for child rapists. McCain also expressed his criticism with the recent ruling.

We could be looking at a potential new hot topic in regards to the US Presidential race between Obama and McCain.

While they both have stances on many issues, they share the same stance on this one issue.

Democrats and Republicans agree on something. We're all in shock.

I think that child rapists should get the death penalty. They are killing the innocence of children. I am a parent and the death penalty for these cowards does not violate the constitution at all.
