The Love Guru Is Not Making Fans with Some Religious Groups

By KJ Mullins     Jun 26, 2008 in World
The latest movie, The Love Guru out by Mike Myers isn't making friends within the Hindu nor the Catholic community. Two groups have boycott campaigns ongoing.
The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops has deemed The Love guru as offensive. The group is not the only religious sect that is against the comedy filmed in Toronto.
Hindu leader Rajan zed is championing a campaign against the movie himself. He believes that the movie is "lampooning" the Hindu culture. He is happy that the USCCB has taken up the cause calling it a "remarkable inter-faith gesture."
The Catholic organization claims that the movie has endless penis jokes and "potty" humour.
Zed said: "We are thankful to the Conference of Catholic Bishops for feeling the pain of the Hindu community and categorizing The Love Guru as morally offensive. Today it is Hinduism, tomorrow Hollywood might attempt to denigrate another religion."
