Presumed Democratic nominee Senator Barack Obama of Illinois has called forth fundraisers to help his former Democratic opponent Senator Hillary Clinton of New York get out of debt.
Ever since Senator Barack Obama of Illinois had clinched the Democratic nomination, there have been talks of he would be willing to help Senator Hillary Clinton of New York. Even though the Democratic primary contest is over with, it could be deemed the most historic in United States history let alone Democratic Party history. It was a long contest that went through every primary and caucus.
Despite winning major states, Clinton could not keep up with Obama’s fundraising prowess. While Obama and presumed GOP nominee Senator John McCain of Arizona have continued to raise funds, Clinton’s campaign was at least $20 million in the red. And then, Obama and Clinton had both agreed to raise funds for the Democratic Party. There were talks of Clinton using that as a means to get out of debt.
Even with big victories, Clinton had lost donors and fundraisers to Obama.
With Clinton giving her endorsement to Obama, there have been talks on whether or not he will help her get out of campaign debt.
Well, it is official.
Obama has called forth his campaign finance team to help Clinton get out of debt. However, Obama will not completely help her get out of the debt. So far, Obama is aiming to help Clinton pay off half of the debt which is about $10 million.
So yes, Obama is aiming to help Clinton getting out of her campaign debt. This Friday, Clinton will campaign with Obama in New Hampshire. In the Democratic primary, it was Clinton that had won the New Hampshire primary.
He even called on his own donors to raise money to get Clinton out of debt. If they had not donated funds to Clinton’s campaign in the past, they could donate up to $2,300. According to Hassan Nemazee, Clinton’s finance co-chair, the sooner she gets out of her debt, the sooner she can campaign for Obama.
For this campaign, Obama will need Clinton’s help. Still, there are Clinton supporters still bitter at the outcome of the Democratic race that they rather vote McCain than Obama.
In a nutshell, Obama is going to help Clinton get out of campaign debt. So yes, the speculating about the campaign debt can stop. Obama has already called out to fundraisers to help Clinton out.
