What would make a Burger King burger worth $200? Would it help to make it worth the cost to get a complimentary glass of wine with it? If you live in Britain you could try a paddy topped with truffles, ham, balsamic vinegar and Champagne onion.
Britain is the place to be if you want to indulge in a $200.00 burger at Burger King.
Just what is it made of to cost that much? According to Burger King's Chef Mark Dowding it starts with the finest and expensive premium Japanese-style Wagyu, flame grilled, then garnished with garnished with Italian truffles, Spanish cured ham, aged balsamic vinegar, Champagne onions and placed onto a saffron- and truffle-dusted bun.
The actual cost of the burger is just a little under $80.00 but by the time it arrives at the counter the cost to you is just a little under $200.00
If you are going to spend that much would you want any ordinary soft drink to go with it? Burger King doesn't think you would so they are giving a complimentary glass of wine with each burger.
Erika Baroness Von Schubert when asked about trying it replied,
"That would have to be one really, really special burger. I'd give it a go."
One customer when asked if the burger was worth it his reply was,
"Orgasmic."
Really now!
Asked if they have sold any, one employee said they have sold a few and added that one couple split the bill.
Of course there is a little controversy about the burger.
Dave Tucker, with the anti-poverty group "War on Want," said that it is outrageous
To those who are trying to draw attention to the millions who are poor and are just struggling to survive with the rising prices of just the needed basics they say this is the wrong burger, with the wrong message, and at the wrong time.
"To come out with this kind of hugely expensive and over-the-top burger and to have 80 million people going to bed hungry every night is just to shoot yourself in the foot,"
Tucker said.
Burger King is donating the proceeds of the sale of the burger to a children's charity in London.
