Microsoft’s Internet Explorer team sent a special cake to congratulate Mozilla for their new Firefox 3 browser launch. Are we seeing a gentler side of Microsoft?
Internet Explorer still dominates Firefox by nearly seven times (83 vs. 13 per cent). But while Internet Explorer is a closed browser, Firefox is an open browser. There is a friendly competition but also mutual admiration between the two competitors. To congratulate Mozilla's introduction of the new Firefox 3 browser yesterday, the IE team sent a special cake to Mozilla offices, as shown in the picture.

Sean from Microsoft bought this cake to Rob in Mozilla’s office. Mozilla was not surprised because they also received a cake from IE when Mozilla introduced their Firefox 2. Apparently Microsoft wants to maintain a tradition. Will they keep the tradition once Firefox exceeds them in market share? Only time will tell.

Also, Firefox 3 was downloaded by a record 8.5 million users and counting in just over 24 hours. Even though Mozilla called it a Guinness World Record, there are no previous records to compare to, but this can be considered one of the top records if not the biggest.

You can download the new Firefox 3 version here.
