Foul Mouthed Joan Rivers Gets The Cut Treatment On Live UK Television

Featured on pro-female magazine show during the day, "Loose Women," Ms Rivers had been talking, as one of the show's guests about the award winning actor, Russell Crowe.

The candid speaking US former chat show host is well known for her open mindedness and frankness about most subjects including men, yet the live audience, made up of predominately women, were in for a shock when the American comedienne, who thought that there would be a standard few second delay in airing, swore like a trooper. Immediately after, she was escorted off set during the commercial break, the star claimed that she was "thrilled" as it was the first time she had been asked to leave a TV stage in 40 years.

TV bosses of commercial channel, ITV frantically mustered up a formal apology live on air in a bid to halt the floods of telephone calls complaining about the language content of the fairly mild daytime show. The show normally consists of guests and mediocre celebrities, mostly women sitting about and chatting about women's issues.

Speaking on behalf of the channel, a spokesperson told BBC News: "Guests are always briefed that it is a live daytime show and are reminded not to swear or use inappropriate language. An editorial decision was taken that Joan Rivers should not appear in the final part of the programme. We would like to apologise to Loose Women viewers for the inappropriate language used on today's show."

She is in London at the present time to promote her new play, written by herself, about her life, where she is to star.

She said that it was not her fault that UK producers did not have the facilities to bleep out foul language.
