Paul Newman appeared frail as he made a public appearance for fund raising for his The Hole In Wall Gang children's cancer charity. The actor is battling lung cancer himself according to some reports.
Newman's health issues forced him to pull out of a directing job for John Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men according to various reports. There are reports though denied from the Newman camp that he has been undergoing treatment at
New York's Sloan-Kettering Cancer Centre.
If the reports are correct he has been struggling for quite some time with the disease.
His spokesperson played down his hospitalization, insisting Newman was 'being treated for athlete’s foot and hair loss'.
Newman denied that he has cancer when he missed another fund raising event for the charity in March. He also had to cancel an appearance that month on The Late Show With David Letterman.
Newman lives in Connecticut with his wife Joanne Woodward.
