As the drawn out presidential primary season draws to a close, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, DGA Chairman Joe Manchin and DNC Chairman Howard Dean are ready to push forward in order to take the country back to the past.
According to the Democratic leadership in a June 4, 2008 statement, "Democrats must now turn our full attention to the general election. To that end, we are urging all remaining uncommitted super delegates to make their decisions known by Friday of this week so that our party can stand united and begin our march toward reversing the eight years of failed Bush/McCain policies that have weakened our country.”
Demonstrating a readiness to portray the United States as a “weakened” country on the World Stage and announcing plans to reverse the policies of the current administration the agenda continues down what some may deem a dangerous path where democrats indeed are throwing America under the bus in order to gain power.
The party spin doctors have spun a republican effort to influence the democratic primaries as proof of support for their archaic causes exemplified by another statement by Reid, Dean and Co, “We are grateful to the millions of Independents and Republicans who have crossed over to vote for a Democratic candidate for President.”
Another disconcerting fact on the democratic agenda is at a time when troops are necessarily deployed to all corners of the globe, veterans are last on the list of issues and concerns found on the Democratic Party’s official website. Priorities are listed in order of civil rights, ethics, environment, health care, etc, but leave security and care for the troops long down the list.
Whatever your political preference is this election season it would be prudent to check outside sources to determine the proper candidate to occupy the office of the president for the next four years. Too many extraordinarily important issues in the area of foreign policy await the next president requiring that someone with experience and a true and complete understanding of the consequences possible due to some countries aggressive ambitions to achieve their own power grab.
Voting is a responsibility to be undertaken with unfiltered knowledge in order to continue the existence of true freedom and liberty. Don’t take it for granted.
Authors note:
As this is a conclusion to a four part series it is left markedly short in order to spur reader research and discussion on the serious issues facing the United States in the 2008 general election.
