Former Arkansas Governor and former GOP presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee has made a headline recently. This time, it is not related to John McCain’s campaign.
Earlier tonight, Huckabee gave a speech at the North Carolina Republican Convention. Robert Pittenger, the GOP candidate for lieutenant governor for North Carolina started choke on his lunch. Without hesitation, Huckabee rushed in and executed the Heimlich maneuver on him.

So far, a crisis was averted and Huckabee managed to make a headline. The so-called “Huckabee Heimlich” might generate some buzz. Huckabee said he was a man of miracles. Perhaps Pittenger may also be a man of miracles.

For the last few weeks, former Arkansas Governor and former GOP hopeful Mike Huckabee has been in the headlines. At times, Huckabee came to the aid of now presumptive Democratic nominee Barack Obama amidst the Reverend Jeremiah Wright controversy. It seems to be expected as Huckabee is a former pastor himself.

When former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney dropped out of the GOP race, it was between Huckabee and presumptive GOP nominee John McCain. A few weeks ago, Huckabee said that he would like to be McCain’s running-mate.

Huckabee dropped out on March 4 when McCain received more than enough delegates to clinch the GOP nomination. He was in the same predicament with Senator Hillary Clinton of New York when she ran against Obama in the Democratic race. Despite many people telling him to drop out, Huckabee had refused. It forced McCain to keep focus on the primaries rather than the general elections.

At the end, you certainly don’t expect a former presidential hopeful to charge in and give you the Heimlich maneuver. During the New Hampshire primary, Huckabee was giving coffee out. Back during the New Hampshire primary, Huckabee asked where else in the state does a candidate come out and personally pour coffee.

In the case of North Carolina: Where else than in North Carolina does a candidate come out and save you with the Heimlich maneuver?
