Metaphorically, the nuking of the United Nations has been my adult life's dream. My first look into the United Nations was when I was in High School some 40 years ago.
I discovered many things about the United nations so, I wrote about it and was severely chastised by the Sociology teacher in regards to my term paper. How dare I speak badly of the United Nations? In front of the whole class she read bits and pieces from my paper, ensuring the out of context intent. When she was done, she looked in my direction with one of those holier than thou looks and asked me if I had anything to say. I said yes and she smirked and said to go ahead. I did. I looked at her and said that it was good thing that she didn't burn any bras. Wide-eyed and gaped mouth she uttered a WHAT? I then calmly stated that she probably didn't have any to burn because she didn't have any "breasts" to speak of.
Off to the Principles' Office I went.
The term paper was all about the vast errors in judgment the UN was in the habit of making and that their first official outing was a dismal failure. And that failure was the Korean War. To this day it is still a failure because a state of war still exists between North and South Korea. It was true in 1968 when I wrote the paper and it is true today. Pretty much everything the organization has been involved with since then has also been a failure and they constantly undermine their own Charter by putting idiots in positions of power within the useless and tired group.
The Human Rights Council is a bloody joke and has been for decades. It has gotten so bad that it is rumored that the United States is going to walk away from the Council and hopefully tell them to shove it. I can hardly wait. This begs the question, why did it take so long? And this also begs another question. Why do we fund this useless organization when all it does is promote raping and pillaging and all other manners of human rights violations? And, where is international outrage when the UN commits such horrendous sins against humanity?
This could be the #2 reason to vote for McCain with the first reason being we are at war and at least he gets it. Apparently, he is conjuring up a way to make the United Nations about as useful and needed as the defunct League of Nations. He wants to start up a League of Democracies.
Whatever renders the United Nations defunct and more useless, I am all for.
