Michael Pfleger, the priest that guest spoke at Trinity United Church of Christ, formerly affiliated with Barack Obama, recently said, "They want to kill me." He also received thousands of threats since his public rant.
Recently Barack Obama has resigned from his church, the Trinity United Church of Christ, after series of remarks, first from Obama's pastor of almost 20 years, Jeremiah Wright,m and recently because of remarks from Michael Pfleger, the reverend who spoke at that same church recently.
After Obama announced his resignation from the church, Pfleger, apologized for his comments about Hillary Clinton about her thinking she was 'entitled" to win the Democratic nomination for presidency because she was "white" and he also told his congregation that he has been receiving "thousands of hate threats" since his controversial comments became public.
His apology:
"I apologize for anyone who was offended and who thought it to be mockery. That was neither my intent nor was it my heart."
The threats:
The Rev. Michael Pfleger, who helped reignite Barack Obama's pastor problems by mocking Hillary Clinton, said this evening he's received "thousands of hate threats" since his videotaped pulpit rant.
"They want to kill me," Pfleger told parishioners during a service in a St. Sabina Church chapel on Chicago's South Side this evening. "It's been very ugly."
Pfleger says he has received more than 3,000 of those hate mails since his recent guest appearance last Sunday at Trinity United Church of Christ, Obama's former church.
During that sermon, Pfleger, a Catholic priest, pretended he was Clinton crying over "a black man stealing my show."
All in all, despite critics saying Barack Obama only resigned from this church because it was politically expedient, and whether that is true or not, it doesn't change the fact that it was something he needed to do if he had any hopes whatsoever of getting past his political problems that stemmed from his "spiritual" guides and advisers.
Just as a reminder, Barack Obama's connection to Michael Pfleger is not only the fact that he guest spoke at Obama's former church.
In an interview given in April of 2004, reported by the Chicago Sun Times, Barack Obama listed Pfleger as one of the men that helped him maintain his "moral compass".
The other two men listed were, Jeremiah Wright and James Meeks.
This leaves a question about the choices Obama has made regarding the religious men he has chosen to help him maintain a "moral compass".
