During Game Four of the Stanely Cup Final last night a moment of silence for Bourdon was held and the players with the Detroit Red Wings and Pittsburgh Penguins stood and bowed their heads while Bourdon's picture was flashed on the video board.
Bourdon's motorcycle collided with a tractor-trailer when the motorcycle crossed the centre median near Shippagan in northeastern New Brunswick last Thursday.
Police said the high winds in the region may be the reason that Bourdon lost control as he rounded a curve.
Investigators will also be looking at driver inexperience as a possible factor in the crash. Bourdon was granted his motorcycle licence just two weeks before the collision..
Bourdon was a first round pick of the Canucks in the 2005 NHL draft and was a Quebec Major Junior Hockey League alum. Bourdon divided his time between the Canucks and their AHL Manitoba affiliate this season.
