In a developing story, Democratic co-frontrunner Senator Barack Obama of Illinois has just removed himself as a member of his church congregation.
Amidst the controversy of Reverend Jeremiah Wright and the “God Damn America” sermon which had placed Democratic co-frontrunner Senator Barack Obama of Illinois in hot water, Obama has seemed to recover from the damage. He looks to be able to clinch the Democratic Party nomination.
However, Wright had defended himself. Obama had denounced Wright’s remarks. Remarks by the clergy of the church had put Obama through a political maelstrom. Now, Obama today has announced that he would be leaving the Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago.
May 21 will seem to be one of the most interesting days in regards for the US Presidential Elections of 2008. While the DNC is meeting on the rules and bylaws, Obama has resigned his membership as the Trinity United Church of Christ.
There will be more on this developing story.
