So either McCain goes or Susan Sarandon does? McCain 2008! This football game goes my way or I'm taking my ball and leaving scenario played out in both 2000 and 2004, with many promising to leave the US if Bush was elected. So why are they still here?
You know, if you make a promise, you really should keep it.
This Election Day voter just found one more big reason to vote for John McCain in November. Susan Sarandon said she'll leave America for either Italy or Canada should John McCain win the presidency,
SUSAN SARANDON, who appeared in three films last year and won kudos for her TV movie "Bernard and Doris," is still not a contented soul. She says if John McCain gets elected, she will move to Italy or Canada. She adds, "It's a critical time, but I have faith in the American people."
Not like she couldn't afford both.
Why is Susan Sarandon so disturbed that she feels she must flee the United States if John McCain is elected, like Einstein fleeing Nazi Germany?
If so, she'll find a hell of a lot more people at the in door than the out. Hell, they're even jumping the fences to get in.
If it was meant as reverse psychology to influence the election, it didn't work work with me.
McCain 2008!
I have faith in the American people too, Susan. To hold people to their word. You promise to leave, pack your bags if McCain's elected. We'll even help you carry them.
Nothing new here.
Celebrities such as Robert Altman, Alec Baldwin, Barbara Streisand and Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam have all made such promises in the past.
Gwyneth Paltrow made good on hers.
She now actually boycotts America from England.
Not that she's so offended by all things American she'd sit out a major tent pole production of Iron Man, though.
Oliver Stone blamed Americans for the lackluster domestic performance of Alexander and griped about leaving the country.
I didn't have a problem with that. The evil BushCo Government wasn't keeping him here. Hell, they can't even get Michael Moore to shut up.
Not that that's a bad thing. The problem with freedom is, you really can't shut people up. It is also its most redeeming quality.
But I think it's time some of these celebs should be held to their word about fleeing America like refugees, or be forever blasphemed. It's called holding you to your word.
Not holding my breath. But I will be on the lookout at the airport for Ms. Sarandon come November if McCain wins. I may even hoof it to the tarmac to wave her goodbye.
Wonder if she'll show as promised.
