Pelosi and Reid Work Together To Bring Democratic Race To An End

In regards to the superdelegates and the Democratic contest, Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid have weighed in on the issue.

The race towards the Democratic presidential nomination is about to close to an end. Many are ready to accept co-frontrunner Senator Barack Obama to be the likely Democratic nominee. Presumed GOP nominee Senator John McCain of Arizona looks ready to face off against Obama in the general elections. The latest string of attack ads from the Republican National Committee have focused on Obama. However, co-frontrunner Senator Hillary Clinton of New York is still in the race. Clinton has refused to drop out. Her husband, former US President Bill Clinton said that if Hillary is not the nominee, the Democrats will lose against McCain. Senator Clinton maintains that she holds the popular vote. But, it is still up for debate. But, Clinton has refused to drop out. On Saturday, there is meeting planned in regards for a compromise on Michigan and Florida. Both states were stripped of their delegates for holding their primaries too early. DNC Chair Howard Dean said there will be a compromise reached. He added that the other forty-eight states need to be respected for playing by the rules. Dean said that you can’t change the rules at the end to change the outcome. Dean also said that the remaining uncommitted superdelegates must publicly endorse by the end of June. Now, Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Democratic Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid have now weighed in on the matter. Pelosi and Reid are working to end the fight between Clinton and Obama. So forth, Pelosi has already called to the remaining superdelegates to endorse either Clinton or Obama. She said that they have between now and next week to do so. Pelosi said that this cannot go to the Democratic National Convention this coming office. Obama and Clinton have already given their arguments to the uncommitted superdelegates. Obama said that they should back the candidate with the most pledged delegates. Clinton said they should back the candidate that leads in the popular vote. While Clinton maintains she holds the popular vote; that is still up for debate.
