If you are sick and tired of being told that you should feel guilty for harming Mother Earth just by your very existence on the planet, then June 12 may offer a chance for a therapeutic carbon belch.
On June 12th, the first ever Carbon Belch Day will be observed by Grassfire.org. The group seeks to counter global warming alarmism by encouraging folks to belch out as much carbon as possible on that day by taking the Carbon Belch Day Pledge. The website suggests mowing your yard, hosting a neighborhood cookout or going for a drive for no particular reason. According to the site:
Our Pledge to you is this… We are pretty confident that by taking the Carbon Belch Day pledge you will have at least as much of an impact on Al Gore’s "planetary emergency" as you would have if you followed any of the goofy "Green" mandates like "turn off your lights day", and you’ll have more fun! So complete the form below and join Carbon Belch Day!

If you are so inclined, you can even calculate the size of your carbon belch by using the carbon belch calculator provided.

Why would anyone want to participate in such an event? They answer that question with the following:

Why Carbon Belch?
In this world of carbon credits and endless "Green" propaganda, why would we encourage tens of thousands of people to increase their CO2 output on Carbon Belch Day?
Because Al Gore's "planetary emergency" is a bunch of hot air…
Because shrinking your "carbon footprint" is not going to save the world from doom…
Because CO2 isn't even a pollutant -- life needs CO2…
Because energy is the fuel of human progress and man is not the "bad guy"…
Because the real "planetary emergency" is the coming $1.2 Carbon Tax…
And because it's fun and your Carbon Belch might actually do some good!

If after taking the pledge and calculating the size of your belch, you still feel the need to do more, they provide the opportunity to purchase Carbon Belch Debits. They explain the program as follows:
Perhaps the most absurd aspect of the entire Climate Alarmist agenda is the burgeoning "carbon credit" industry. To offset our green guilt, we are told to "buy" carbon credits to supposedly neutralize our CO2 footprint. Somehow, this bogus idea of environmental indulgences has become accepted as a real and valid way to deal with our Carbon Guilt.

The group invites people to sign an online petition opposing pending legislation that would impose a terrible tax burden on the American taxpayer to combat a problem that some say does not even exist.
...and Climate Alarmists are pumping hundreds of millions of dollars into this massive effort to create the largest expansion of government power in our nation’s history. All this while a growing body of scientific evidence is showing that man-made global warming is not a crisis at all!
