A man so obsessed with the sweet tone of a woman's recorded voice that he called a toll-free number 500 hundred times just to listen to her voice.
Hiroyuki N., a 38-year-old plumber from Tokyo in Japan, called the the toll-free number around 500 times just so he could hear the woman's voice on the taped message.
His obsession with her voice got him arrested after he spent 3,100 hours listening to her voice.
He was calling a food firm that is based in Takasaki, Japan. He was arrested on the suspicion of obstructing the business of the company.
According
to UPI the authorities said that the man continuously called the toll-free, 24-hour number because "he wanted to hear a woman's voice."
According to Sky.com, a police spokesman said, "The company has the number for 24-hour order-taking with a female voice.
He said he wanted to hear a woman's voice.
The company paid the call charges, which amounted to £18,595 for the call time of 3,100 hours."
Japanese police say that are used to dealing with people who are obsessed with female voices.
In January a 37-year-old man was arrested for placing at about 2,600 calls to directory assistance over several months time.
Telephone operators in Japan are mostly women. They nicknamed him the "don't-hang-up-man".
